- You always pay the business's normal price. Hýsa's guests, homeowners and partners get part of Hýsa's commission back as cashback.
- Cashback is paid when the purchase is confirmed and the business has paid Hýsa – usually within 1–3 weeks.
- A fixed cashback needs a purchase of at least three times the cashback, and cashback is never more than a third of the purchase.
- Businesses pay either a commission per sale or a fixed amount a month – and can also buy an ad on the website.

About Hýsa Referrals
Hýsa Referrals is run by Hýsa Sp/f, Heygsvegur 33, 100 Tórshavn, Faroe Islands (“Hýsa”, “we”). Hýsa rents out holiday homes and recommends local businesses (“partners”) – restaurants, tours, car rental, shops and more – in the Faroe Islands and in other countries where we have partners.
When you buy from a partner, your purchase is an agreement between you and the partner. Hýsa is not the seller and is not responsible for the partner's goods or services, prices, availability or opening hours. If something goes wrong, tell the partner first – and tell us too, so we can follow up.
Part ACustomers and cashback
For guests, homeowners and partner businesses buying from other partners.
1.Who gets cashback
- Guests staying in a home managed by Hýsa, who open the page from the link in Hýsa's messages, or who register on the page and are approved by Hýsa. A link for a booking works from 7 days before check-in until 14 days after check-out.
- Homeowners approved by Hýsa, through their personal link.
- Partner businesses approved by Hýsa (the partner network), at the other partners.
Everyone else is welcome to use the pages and book through them, but does not get cashback. Some partners pay Hýsa a fixed amount a month instead of a commission; at those partners there is no cashback, which is shown on the partner's card. Personal links and cashback codes are personal and must not be shared.
2.How cashback is earned
- Online: book through the button on Hýsa's page, ideally with the email from your Hýsa booking. If you use a Hýsa discount code instead, you get the discount and no cashback.
- In the shop: pay the normal price, then send Hýsa a clear photo of the whole receipt, the date and the amount paid incl. VAT, within 60 days. A cashback code saved beforehand makes it quicker.
The cashback is shown on the partner's card. A fixed cashback (for example 100 kr) only applies to purchases of at least three times that amount (300 kr), and cashback is never more than a third of the purchase. Hýsa can also set a general minimum purchase, which is shown if your amount is below it. A receipt can only be used once.
3.When and how cashback is paid
Cashback is paid when the partner has confirmed the purchase (or not disputed it within 3 days) and has paid Hýsa for it – usually within 1–3 weeks. Hýsa may pay it earlier at its own choice.
- Guests: to a payment card you add on our payment provider's secure page (Frisbii – Hýsa never sees your card number), or as a discount on your next stay booked directly with Hýsa, worth the cashback plus an extra percentage. You choose. A discount is linked to your email, is deducted automatically when you book directly with the same email, is valid until the date shown with it, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Homeowners: as agreed with Hýsa, for example with the owner payout.
- Partner businesses: as a deduction on their next invoice from Hýsa.
Your bank may charge a fee for receiving a payment to your card; Hýsa does not cover it. If a purchase is cancelled, refunded or returned, there is no cashback, and cashback already paid may be deducted from later cashback.
4.Checks and misuse
Hýsa checks receipts, partly automatically – for example duplicate photos, dates outside a stay, and whether the amount is on the receipt. We may ask for more information, refuse cashback for receipts that are unclear, altered, duplicated or not from a real purchase, and close access in case of misuse.
Part BPartner businesses
1.The partnership
Hýsa shows the partner to Hýsa's guests, homeowners, other partners and/or the public, in the countries where it operates, as Hýsa decides. There is no sign-up fee. Hýsa approves partners and may decline or remove a partner. Hýsa decides the order of partners on its pages; in each category the partner that pays Hýsa the most may be shown first as “★ Hýsa recommends”. Advertising (part C) never affects this order or label.
2.Commission or a fixed amount a month
The partner chooses how it pays Hýsa, and can change it on its partner page with effect from that day:
- Commission per sale: a percentage of the price (excl. or incl. VAT, as agreed) or a fixed amount per booking or per person, for every sale to a customer who came through Hýsa. Hýsa gives part of it back to its guests, homeowners and partners as cashback, paid by Hýsa. A sale counts when the customer came through the partner's Hýsa link (online, within the tracking period), used a Hýsa discount code, or sent Hýsa a receipt for a purchase from the partner.
- A fixed amount a month: the same amount every month instead of a commission, from the start date (the first month counted from that day). Hýsa's customers get no cashback at the partner. Sales are still counted so both parties can see the result. When ranking partners, a monthly amount counts as a commission of a quarter of that amount on a 1,000 kr purchase.
The minimum commission and the minimum monthly amount are shown when signing up. VAT is added according to the rules for the partner's country.
3.Registration of sales and disputes
The partner never needs to register sales. If it sells online, it gives Hýsa read-only access to its orders once – with WooCommerce, for example, a Consumer key and Consumer secret – or adds Hýsa's tracking code; other platforms get a step-by-step guide when signing up. The partner gets an email for each sale and can see the customer's receipt on its partner page. If a sale is wrong, the partner tells Hýsa within 3 days of the email; otherwise the sale is approved.
4.Invoices, payment and reminders
Hýsa invoices weekly (or monthly by agreement) with 8 days' payment terms. Commission, a monthly amount and advertising are on the same invoice; a monthly amount and advertising appear once a month. If an invoice is overdue, Hýsa sends reminders. If it is not paid within 21 days of the due date, the partner's listing and any ads are paused until payment is registered. Hýsa may charge interest and fees on late payment as allowed by law.
5.Partner network
Approved partners are part of the partner network and get cashback at the other partners that Hýsa shows to partners, deducted on their own next invoice once the selling partner has paid. A partner cannot get cashback at its own business.
6.Listing content
The partner is responsible for its listing – texts, photos, video, opening hours, offers – and confirms that it has the right to use the material and that offers are honoured. Hýsa may edit, translate or remove content, and may show the partner's public Google rating with a link to the reviews.
7.Data
Each party processes customers' personal data for its own purposes and follows data protection law. Hýsa shares with the partner only what is needed to confirm a sale: date, amount, order or receipt, and the customer's name. See the privacy policy.
8.Changes and ending
Either party can end the partnership at any time by email. Sales made before the end, and a monthly amount for the month already started, are still invoiced. Hýsa may change these terms with 30 days' notice by email; a partner who does not accept can end the partnership before the change takes effect.
Part CAdvertising
- What it is: a spot for the partner's picture or logo on Hýsa's website – the wide banner or one of the tiles – in the partner's country, linking to the partner's own website. Ads are marked “Advertisement”. When several partners advertise in the same spot, they take turns.
- Who can advertise: approved partners, on top of a commission or a monthly amount.
- Price: as shown on the partner page when ordering – currently 3,000 kr a month from 1 April to 31 August and 1,000 kr a month the rest of the year, plus VAT. The first month is counted from the start date. Price changes are announced 30 days ahead and apply from the next month.
- Start and stop: on the partner page. When stopped, the ad runs to the end of the month that has started; that month is invoiced in full.
- Content: the advertiser is responsible for the picture and the page it links to and that they are lawful and true. Hýsa may refuse or remove an ad that is misleading, unlawful or does not fit the website, and then credits the unused part of the month.
- No guarantee: Hýsa does not guarantee a number of views, clicks or sales. The partner page shows the partner's own visibility numbers.
Using the website
- Information: partner details, opening hours, events and travel information are given in good faith but may change – check with the business or organiser before you go. Event information partly comes from Visit Faroe Islands and organisers' own websites.
- Chat: the chat assistant is an AI that answers from Hýsa's public information. Its answers can be wrong and are not binding offers; for anything about a booking, payment or complaint, use “Talk to a person”.
- Live activity: the box at the top of the website shows real, anonymous activity on Hýsa's pages – for example how many people are on the site and which places were just opened. No one can be identified from it.
- Languages: the website is written in English, with Hýsa's own translations into some languages and machine translation into others. If they differ, the English text applies.
- Newsletter: if you sign up, we send news a few times a year. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Liability and law
Cashback is a voluntary benefit from Hýsa. Hýsa's liability towards customers is limited to the cashback for the purchase in question, and towards partners and advertisers to the amount paid to Hýsa in the last three months – except where the law does not allow such a limit. Hýsa may change the partners, the cashback and these terms; the version in force when a purchase was made applies to it. Faroese law applies, and disputes go to the courts of the Faroe Islands, unless mandatory consumer rules in your country say otherwise.
We answer Monday–Friday 9–17 and weekends 12–14, Faroese time.
